Erica Walker
Walker is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health (BUSPH). Dr. Walker has extensive experience with environmental exposure assessments, environmental exposure modeling, community surveying, and community engagement. Her lab’s primary aim is to explore the relationship between community noise and health holistically. This is accomplished by working directly with communities to support their specified noise issues using: real-time monitoring and exposure modeling; our smartphone app, NoiseScore; community noise surveying via our National Neighborhood Environmental Noise Survey. Her current research spans two geographical areas. Across New England, she is actively working on community-driven topics ranging from firework to aircraft activity, with particular interests in understanding its relationship to neurodevelopment in children. In Mississippi, she is extending her work to include both air and water pollution, specifically working in areas that deep inequalities and environmental injustices have impacted.
