The 2026 session of Community Noise Lab’s Environmental Explorers School launches in June of this year! We appreciate all who participated in last year’s pilot launch. Your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks to your input we are back this year with an even better program! Here is what’s new this year!

Exploring Your Interests

Last year, we required Explorers to complete all of the modules to earn a certificate of completion and their Brown University Bookstore gift certificate. This year, students get to create their own syllabus by choosing from over 30 unique courses, based on their personal interests. For the 2026 year, students are required to take only 8 courses to earn their completion certificates. However, we encourage students to take as many courses as they would like! More courses means more knowledge, more points, and more opportunities to earn cool prizes! You can download our course catalog HERE!

Map your Adventure

From Air Pollution to Water Quality (and everything in between) we have a variety of engaging and informative courses for you to choose from. You can download our 2026 COURSE CATALOG and use our ADVISING SHEET to plan your journey this summer!

How Do I Register?

Seats are limited and registration requires two steps. The first step is to pre-register. When you preregister, you reserve your space for Summer 2026. In early June, we will send you an enrollment key. Once you enroll in the course, we will send you an activity kit using the address you provided during registration. You will need to complete the registration for each child you would like to enroll.  If you are registering a group of students, please reach out to Dr. Erica Walker at erica_walker{at}brown.edu.

Your Travel Gear

Each explorer will receive, via mail, an activity packet filled to the brim with materials and resources to complete the EES program. Your packet will include activity books, art supplies, and much more!

What’s New for the 2026 Year?

  • New and improved classes, including opportunities for parents to work together with their child/children!
  • New class offerings
  • Students are now able to select the classes they want to take!
  • Improved prize system
  • ID cards and completion certificates located directly within the learning platform that you can download, print, and share!
