Community Sound Portraits

About Project

Community Sound Portraits was founded in 2015 in collaboration with local artist, Julio Cesar Roman. This project was intended to be a visually and aurally moving virtual collection of stories from local residents. We wanted to more deeply capture the subjective and personal aspects of community noise exposure. We interviewed a diverse range of participants and you can visit the Community Sound Portraits website to read and listen to each individual portrait to learn more about their unique experiences. While this project is currently on hiatus, we will relaunch this fall under the new name “SoundBites” and “Mississippi Seen”.
